This visitor centre - comprising a restaurant, exhibition space and educational facilities - hovers on the edge of a ridge in the wetlands where it provides a transition from the low level wetlands to the elevated land alongside the adjacent river. The elevated design of the building provides outstanding 360 degree views across the surrounding landscape, gives the site a distinctive landmark, raises the building above the floodplain and minimises the impact of the building on the ecology of the site.
Electricity is
provided by a wind turbine, with space heating provided through a ground source
heat pump. |
