River Douglas

Inspired by the concept of autumn leaves floating delicately on water this design concept for a pedestrian crossing over the River Douglas seeks  to provide an elegant, sensitive yet distinctive pedestrian crossing in the wetlands of Lancashire.

The deck gradually rises and falls and widens in the centre to provide a vantage point from which to view the surrounding countryside.

The bridge is comprised of two splayed arch trusses and a larger mid span bowstring spaceframe which combine to give the bridge an elegant curvaceous form.
